One of India most most ancient Vedic learning centres, the Bharadwaj Ashram in Prayagraj is believed to be the gurukul of Rishi Bharadwaj, one of the Sapta Rishis. According to the Ramayana, it was the first stop of Ram, Sita, and Lakshmana after crossing the Ganga during their exile. The ashram complex today houses temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Rama, and recent excavations here have unearthed idols believed to date to the 8th century BCE.
