Alopi Devi Temple in Prayagraj is one of the most unique Shakti temples in India. Unlike conventional temples, it has no idol of the goddess — instead, a decorated palanquin (doli) housed in a silver cradle is worshipped as the form of the goddess. According to legend, this is the spot where the palanquin of Goddess Sati fell during Lord Shiva's grief-stricken wandering, making it one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. The temple attracts large numbers of devotees during Navratri and the Kumbh Mela.
