The Tal Barahi temple on its island in Phewa Lake.
Tal Barahi is a small pagoda style Hindu temple on an island near the eastern shore of Phewa Lake, dedicated to Barahi (Varahi), one of the mother goddesses worshipped across the Kathmandu Valley and the hills. The only way across is by boat. Pilgrims come with offerings, especially on Saturdays, and the island is busy during Dashain. The crossing itself takes only a few minutes, and many visitors combine it with a longer row on the lake.
