About Takht Sri Patna Sahib
Takht Sri Patna Sahib, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is one of the five Takhts (thrones) in Sikhism and holds immense religious significance. Located in Patna, it marks the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth and last human Sikh Guru, who was born here in 1666. The gurdwara was commissioned and rebuilt by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the 19th century (around 1837-1839) and features beautiful white marble architecture. The complex includes a museum showcasing sacred relics associated with Guru Gobind Singh Ji, including weapons, manuscripts, and personal belongings. The gurdwara is a major pilgrimage site, attracting devotees from around the world who come to pay homage and seek blessings. Daily prayers, community services, and the langar (free community kitchen) are integral parts of the gurdwara's activities, reflecting the Sikh principles of equality and service.
