About Patna Museum
Patna Museum, established in 1917, is the state museum of Bihar and one of the oldest museums in India. The museum houses a vast collection of artifacts spanning from ancient to colonial periods, including archaeological objects, sculptures, coins, paintings, textiles, and manuscripts. Notable exhibits include a 16-meter-long fossilized tree and various other significant artifacts. The famous Didarganj Yakshi, once housed here, has been transferred to the Bihar Museum. The museum's architecture is a blend of Mughal and Rajput styles, reflecting the cultural diversity of the region. The museum is locally referred to as "Jadu Ghar" (House of Magic) and serves as an important repository of Bihar's rich historical and cultural heritage, attracting history enthusiasts, researchers, and tourists from around the world.
