Reis Magos Fort

A restored 1551 Portuguese fort on the north bank of the Mandovi with panoramic river views and a heritage art centre.

Reis Magos Fort on the north bank of the Mandovi River, 7 km from Panjim, is among the earliest Portuguese fortifications in Goa, originally built in 1551 by Viceroy Alfonso de Noronha to protect the capital from Maratha attack. Restored in 2008 by architect Gerard da Cunha, the fort now functions as a cultural and heritage centre hosting contemporary art exhibitions, historical installations and events. The elevated ramparts offer some of the finest panoramic views of the Mandovi, Panjim's skyline and the surrounding riverine landscape.
