Kumarpal Temple Palitana

A temple commemorating the great 12th-century Solanki king and Jain patron Kumarpal.

Kumarpal Temple on Shatrunjaya Hill commemorates Kumarpal Solanki, the 12th-century Solanki king widely credited with initiating the earliest phase of major temple construction on the hill around 1156 CE. The temple houses a celebrated collection of jewellery and votive offerings accumulated over centuries. Its prayer rooms are decorated with ornate dragon friezes and the overall structure stands as an acknowledgement of royal Jain patronage in medieval Gujarat.
