Hastagiri Jain Tirth

Hastagiri Jain Tirth, about 25 km from Palitana on the bank of the Shatrunjaya River, is dedicated to Bhagwan Rishabhdev and is traditionally attributed to Bharat Chakravartin, the eldest son of Adinath. The octagonal nine-acre temple complex houses four idols of Rishabhdev facing the cardinal directions, and a small hilltop shrine preserves the footprints of Rishabhdev. The dome carvings recall the Dilwara Temples at Mount Abu in their refinement. The simultaneous views of Shatrunjaya Hill and Kadamgir Mountain from the complex add to its appeal.
