Adinath Temple Palitana

The principal temple of Shatrunjaya, enshrining a 7-foot crystal-eyed marble image of the first Tirthankara.

Adinath Temple at the highest point of Shatrunjaya Hill is the most sacred and architecturally grandest structure in the entire complex. Dedicated to Rishabhanatha, the first Tirthankara who is believed to have delivered his first sermon on this very hill, the temple houses a magnificent seven-foot white marble murti of Adinath with crystal eyes, seated in padmasana. The ornate spire, multiple domed halls and the temple's priceless jewellery collection, viewable with special permission from the Anandji Kalyanji Trust, mark it as the spiritual apex of the Palitana pilgrimage.
