Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple

Hilltop shrine to Lord Murugan, one of his six sacred abodes, reached by steps, winch or rope car.

The Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple, commonly called the Palani Murugan Temple, crowns a hill overlooking the town and ranks among the six sacred abodes of Lord Murugan. Pilgrims climb nearly seven hundred steps or take a winch and rope car to reach the sanctum, where the deity's idol is famously made from a mixture of nine medicinal substances known as navapashanam. The temple turns especially vibrant during the Thai Poosam festival each year.
