Pothundy Dam is an earthen dam built across the Meenchadyppuzha and Padinjarekavu streams and serves as the gateway into the Nelliyampathy hill region. The reservoir's calm waters and the surrounding plantation slopes make it a natural stop on the drive up, popular for short walks and photography before the road begins its climb. Its 19th century construction places it among the older water engineering works in the district.
