Malampuzha Dam was built in 1955 across a tributary of the Bharathapuzha river and remains the largest reservoir in Kerala, set against the lower hills of the Western Ghats. The adjoining garden is laid out with lawns, flower beds, and a rose garden with over a hundred varieties, while an aerial ropeway carries visitors over the dam and gardens for wide views of the reservoir. The site is anchored by sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman's large Yakshi statue and draws families for boating, picnics, and evening walks.
