Mahavira Jain Temple

Eighth-century Jain tirtha dedicated to Mahavira, among the oldest surviving Jain temples in western India.

The Mahavira Jain Temple at Osian dates traditionally to 783 CE under the Gurjara-Pratihara king Vatsaraja. Raised on a sandstone platform, the sanctum and porch show fine early medieval carving and remain an important Oswal pilgrimage site. Later renovations repaired damage while keeping the shrine in active use. Remove footwear and follow temple etiquette; photography rules can vary inside.
