Sunder Mahal was built for Prince Dhurjban, son of Jhujhar Singh, who converted to Islam after marrying a Muslim woman and later devoted his life to prayer, eventually being revered as a saint. Though small and partly in ruins, the site became a pilgrimage spot for Muslims in the region, a rare thread of syncretic history amid Orchha's largely Hindu monuments. Its quiet, weathered courtyard offers a different mood from the fort complex nearby.
