Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary

A 45 square kilometre riverside sanctuary along the Betwa, known for deer, nilgai, and over a hundred bird species.

Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary spreads across the Betwa river's banks, sheltering chital, sambar deer, and nilgai alongside a rich population of resident and migratory birds. It is better suited to gentle nature walks and birdwatching than big game viewing, with the river itself as much a draw as the wildlife. The sanctuary's proximity to the fort complex makes it an easy half day addition for visitors wanting a break from monuments.
