Government Rose Garden

Opened in 1995 on the slopes of Elk Hill at 2,200 metres, this 4-hectare terraced garden holds over 20,000 rose varieties including hybrid teas, miniatures, floribundas, and ramblers.

The Government Rose Garden is one of the largest rose gardens in India, opened in 1995 to commemorate the Centenary Flower Show. Spread across 4 hectares of terraced slopes on Elk Hill at 2,200 metres, it houses over 20,000 rose varieties that thrive in the cool Nilgiri climate.

The collection includes hybrid teas, miniatures, polyanthas, floribundas, and ramblers arranged across colour-coordinated terraces with views of the surrounding hills. Best visited between April and June when the roses are in full bloom. Entry fee applies.
