Omkareshwar Parikrama

A sacred 7 km circumambulation of Mandhata Island passing temples, caves and river viewpoints.

Omkareshwar Parikrama is the ritual circumambulation of the entire Mandhata Island, covering approximately 7 km on foot. The path follows the Narmada and Kaveri riverbanks, climbing over rocky hillside terrain and passing through a succession of temples, caves, ghats and forest sections. Along the route pilgrims encounter the Kedareshwar Temple, Siddhanath Temple, Gauri Somnath Temple, Ranmukteshwar Temple and the Govinda Bhagavatpada Cave. The full circuit takes two to three hours and is undertaken by most devotees visiting Omkareshwar, with the belief that it bestows spiritual merit equivalent to completing all major pilgrimages.
