Nagar Ghat is the main bathing ghat in Omkareshwar, constructed on the Narmada bank by the revered Malwa saint Shri Nagarji. Clean, broad stone steps descend to the river where pilgrims take the mandatory holy dip before proceeding to the Jyotirlinga temple. The ghat faces the Mandhata Island and offers a clear view of the temple spires and the wooded hill. The evening aarti performed here, with oil lamps floated onto the Narmada, is among the most moving experiences the town offers.
