Mamleshwar Temple

The twin Jyotirlinga on the mainland, considered inseparable from the Omkareshwar pilgrimage.

Mamleshwar Temple on the southern bank of the Narmada, directly facing Mandhata Island, enshrines the Mamleshwar Linga, which tradition holds to be the same Jyotirlinga as Omkareshwar. The word Mamleshwar translates as Lord of Immortals. Most pilgrims consider the Omkareshwar pilgrimage incomplete without darshan here, and temple priests have conducted daily Lingarchan rituals uninterrupted since the time of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar. The ancient stone temple complex features intricately carved columns and roughly a thousand smaller Shivalingas arranged within the premises.
