Kedareshwar Temple

An 11th-century Shiva temple at the Narmada-Kaveri confluence, resembling Kedarnath in form.

Kedareshwar Temple stands at the sacred confluence of the Narmada and Kaveri rivers on the parikrama path, dedicated to Lord Kedar, a manifestation of Shiva. Built in the 11th century, its architectural form draws deliberate parallels with the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand, and pilgrims consider a visit here to carry similar merit. The confluence setting, where the two rivers visibly meet, lends the temple a deeply charged atmosphere. It lies about 1 km from the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple and is a prominent stop on the island circuit.
