Nizamabad Fort

Nizamabad Fort, known locally as Qilla Ramalayam, sits on a low hill in the southwest of Nizamabad and traces its origins to the 10th century Rashtrakuta dynasty. A temple to Lord Rama crowns the summit, drawing pilgrims alongside history seekers. Beside the fort walls lies a small lake, said by locals to hide a secret tunnel built on the orders of the Nizam. Later Asaf Jahi repairs left their mark on the compound, blending Rashtrakuta stonework with Nizam era touches.
