Naroshankar Temple

An 18th-century Shiva temple in Nashik's Panchavati, famous for its historic Portuguese bell and riverside Godavari location.

Naroshankar Temple in Nashik's Panchavati area is a historic 18th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, built by Naroshankar Raja Pritinidhi in 1747 CE. The temple is notable for the large bronze bell hanging at its entrance, which was brought from a Portuguese church in Vasai and has become a landmark of the temple. Located on the banks of the Godavari River, the temple is an important pilgrimage stop in Nashik and is architecturally significant as an example of Peshwa-era temple construction. The bell is considered one of the largest in Maharashtra.
