The Nalanda University Ruins preserve the remains of a residential university that drew scholars from across Asia between the 5th and 12th centuries, before its destruction. Spread over 14 hectares, the excavated site reveals rows of monastic cells, lecture halls, and shrine rooms arranged around open courtyards. Walking through it with ASI signage gives a strong sense of scale rarely matched by other ancient Indian ruins, making it Nalanda's clear anchor attraction.
