A forest path near Nagarkot in early morning light.
This is the most popular half day walk from Nagarkot. The trail drops along the ridge through pine forest, terraced fields and small Tamang and Newar villages, with views back over the valley, and ends at the Changu Narayan Temple. It is mostly downhill and takes about 3 to 4 hours at an easy pace. Paths fork often, so use an offline map or hire a local guide through your hotel. From Changu Narayan, taxis and local buses run down to Bhaktapur.
