Lal Tibba

The highest peak in Mussoorie at 2,275 metres, named "Red Hill" for its vivid sunrise and sunset hues, offering the most expansive Himalayan views including Nanda Devi, Kedarnath, and Badrinath through observatory telescopes.

Lal Tibba, meaning Red Hill, is the highest point in Mussoorie at 2,275 metres (7,467 feet), situated about 6 km from the town centre in the Landour area. The name comes from the red hues the sky takes on at sunrise and sunset when viewed from the peak.

An observatory deck at the summit has telescopes through which visitors can see distant Himalayan peaks including Nanda Devi, Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Trishul on clear days - some of the finest high-altitude views accessible from any hill station in Uttarakhand. The surrounding area is quiet and less commercialised than other Mussoorie viewpoints.

The road to Lal Tibba passes through Landour, a quieter cantonment area with colonial bungalows and the famous Char Dukan (four shops) that have served travellers for over a century. Best visited October to March for clearest skies.
