Anamudi is the highest peak in South India, rising to 2,695 metres within the Eravikulam National Park. Trekking to the summit requires a permit from the forest department, and access is regulated to protect the fragile high-altitude ecosystem. The trail passes through rolling shola grasslands and offers sweeping views of the Western Ghats on clear days. Spotting Nilgiri Tahr along the route is common. For serious trekkers visiting Munnar, Anamudi is the most significant and rewarding high-altitude objective in the entire region.
