Opened in 1952, the Jehangir Art Gallery has played a central role in shaping Mumbai's contemporary art scene for over seven decades. It has four exhibition halls that have shown work by major names like M.F. Husain and S.H. Raza, alongside younger and lesser known artists. The gallery sits right in Kala Ghoda, behind the CSMVS museum, and hosts nearly 300 shows a year along with talks and workshops. It gets especially busy during the nine day Kala Ghoda Arts Festival held every February.
