Film City

Established in 1977 and later renamed after Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, Film City is a large studio complex in Goregaon East bordering Sanjay Gandhi National Park. It has eight filming locations that have hosted countless Bollywood productions over the decades, from period sets to modern city backdrops. Guided tours, introduced in 2014, let visitors walk through actual film sets and learn how movies are made. Its location next to the national park also means visitors sometimes spot wildlife like langurs near the edges of the property, adding an unexpected mix of cinema and forest to the visit.
