Bhau Daji Lad Museum

Mumbai's oldest museum, showing old maps, photos, and crafts inside a beautifully restored colonial building in Byculla.

Set inside the Byculla zoo grounds, the Bhau Daji Lad Museum is Mumbai's oldest museum, first opened in 1872. It holds old maps, photographs, pottery, and models that show what the city looked like in the 1800s, along with decorative arts and crafts from that time. The building itself was carefully restored and later won a UNESCO award for its conservation work. Since it sits inside the same park as the Byculla zoo, it makes a natural add on stop for families or heritage lovers already in the area.
