Afghan Church

Built in 1847, the Afghan Church was raised in memory of British and Indian soldiers who died in the First Afghan War. It mixes Gothic Revival design with some Moorish touches, giving it a look that's a little different from Mumbai's other colonial churches. The church sits in the quieter Navy Nagar area of Colaba, close to the sea, and tends to be peaceful even on weekends. It works well as a short add on stop after Sassoon Docks or Colaba Causeway, especially for anyone interested in colonial history away from the main tourist crowd.
