Surya Kund, also called Ram Kund locally, is the great stepped tank in front of Modhera's sabha mandapa. Terraces and stair flights lead down to the water level, with many small shrines set into the corners and sides. Images associated with Vishnu, Ganesha, Shiva, and other deities make the kund a monument in its own right. Walk it slowly after the main temple for the best sense of Solanki water architecture.
