Namdapha National Park covers about 1,985 sq km in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, near the Myanmar border, rising from 200 m to over 4,500 m between the Mishmi Hills and the Patkai range. It was declared a national park in 1983 and holds the northernmost lowland evergreen rainforest in the world. Tigers, leopards, clouded leopards and snow leopards are all recorded, along with hoolock gibbons, red pandas and hornbills.

Miao is the road entry point, and Deban, inside the park, is 26 km further on a forest road. The best season is October to April. Indian visitors from outside Arunachal need an Inner Line Permit, and foreign visitors need a Protected Area Permit. The Deban Forest Rest House is booked through the Field Director at Miao.

  • How to Reach: Dibrugarh airport is about 158 km from Miao. Tinsukia is the nearest long distance railway station and Margherita the nearest passenger station. Deban is 26 km beyond Miao.
