The undulating Meppadi Tea Estates are the town's defining feature, covering the hillsides in neat rows of tea bushes interspersed with pepper and cardamom. Unlike more commercialized plantation tours elsewhere in Kerala, Meppadi's estates remain relatively low key, allowing visitors to walk through active plantation land without heavy tourist infrastructure. Mornings offer the most pleasant walking conditions, with mist settling over the slopes before it burns off. Several homestays in the area arrange informal estate walks with local guides.
