Karapuzha Dam

Roughly 7 km from Meppadi, Karapuzha Dam is one of the largest earth dams in India, built across the Karapuzha river between 1977 and 2004. Partially submerged hills and small green islands dot the reservoir, creating good habitat for waterbirds. The site remains relatively undeveloped, with no major infrastructure beyond the dam itself, which keeps it peaceful compared to more built-up Wayanad attractions. Water levels drop noticeably in summer, so the reservoir looks its best just after monsoon.
