Balaji Maharaj Shrine

Set between two low hills in the Aravallis, the Balaji Maharaj Shrine enshrines a swayambhu idol of Hanuman worshipped in his childhood form. Devotees queue from before dawn, offering laddoo prasad and reciting durkhasta twice a day. The sanctum feels raw and intense rather than ornate, filled with continuous chanting and a ceremonial fire burning inside. Believed to relieve ailments and evil spirits, the shrine anchors the town's entire identity and stays open year round except during eclipses.
