Bhagsunath Temple

Bhagsunath Temple in Bhagsu Nag village near McLeodganj is one of the oldest temples in the Dharamshala region, dedicated to Lord Shiva and believed by locals to be over 5,000 years old. The temple is set beside a natural mountain stream and a series of sacred pools, and the sound of flowing water adds to the meditative atmosphere. The short walk from McLeodganj through the village to the temple passes through traditional Himachali houses and cafes, and the route continues further up the hillside to the famous Bhagsu Waterfall, making the temple a natural first stop for visitors. The temple is particularly significant during the Bhagsunath Fair held in September, when thousands of local devotees gather for prayers and celebrations. The combination of the ancient temple, the cool spring water, and the mountain scenery makes it one of the most serene spiritual spots in the region.
