Goshala (Cow Protection Centre)

The Goshala (Cow Protection Centre) in Mayapur is an ISKCON-managed facility dedicated to the Vaishnava tradition of cow protection, which holds cows as sacred animals. The goshala houses hundreds of cows and bulls, many of them rescued from slaughter. Visitors can interact with the cows, learn about the importance of cow protection in Vedic culture, and participate in feeding the animals. The facility also produces organic dairy products used in the temple kitchens. The goshala reflects Srila Prabhupada's strong emphasis on self-sufficient farming communities and reverence for cows as integral to Vaishnava life.
