Vishram Ghat in Mathura is the most sacred of the 25 ghats along the Yamuna in Mathura, believed to be the spot where Lord Krishna rested after killing the demon Kansa. The name Vishram means rest, and according to tradition, Krishna bathed here after the battle and rested. The ghat is lined with temples and is the focal point of Mathura's religious life — the evening Yamuna Aarti here is one of the most beautiful river rituals in North India. Boat rides from Vishram Ghat offer views of all the Mathura ghats. The ghats are especially vibrant during Janmashtami and Holi.
