A Ramsar-listed wetland about 14 kilometers from Mannargudi home to over 40 migratory and resident bird species.

About 14 kilometers from Mannargudi, Vaduvoor Bird Sanctuary spans 128 hectares of wetland around an irrigation tank that fills each year from November to April. Grey pelicans, painted storks, darters, and pheasant-tailed jacanas number among the more than 40 bird species that visit, viewable from two watch towers built for visitors. Designated a Ramsar wetland in 2022, the sanctuary offers a peaceful nature stop for travelers combining Mannargudi's temples with birdwatching.
