St. Aloysius Chapel

1880s chapel on Lighthouse Hill with interior frescoes by Italian painter Antonio Moscheni.

St. Aloysius Chapel, built in 1885 on Lighthouse Hill, is attached to St Aloysius College and draws comparisons to Rome's Sistine Chapel for its richly painted interiors. Italian Jesuit Antonio Moscheni spent over two years painting the frescoes, mixing his own vegetable dyes for the work. The chapel's plain exterior gives little hint of the elaborate artwork awaiting inside.
