Kadri Manjunatha Temple occupies Kadri Hill and dates back to the 10th or 11th century, later rebuilt in solid stone during the 14th century. The presiding deity, Manjunatha, is believed to be among the oldest idols found in South Indian temples. Legend ties the site's origin to Parashurama's penance at Shiva's direction, and the sprawling complex today includes several smaller shrines dedicated to other deities across its courtyard.
