Bansbari is the main entry range for visitors to Manas National Park, about 20 km from Barpeta Road. The range office, jeep safari start point and a cluster of lodges are around Bansbari and nearby Mothanguri, the forest camp on the Manas river at the Bhutan border. Safaris through grassland and forest here can show wild elephants, wild water buffalo, gaur, deer, golden langurs and many birds.
For the 2026 to 2027 season, Manas reopened on 2 October 2026. Bansbari range is closed to safaris every Tuesday; the Kuklung range closes on Wednesdays, Bhuyanpara on Thursdays and Panbari on Fridays, so plan around these days. Permits are issued at the range office.
