Natun Samaguri Satra

Newer branch of Samaguri Satra continuing the island''s mask-making tradition.

Natun Samaguri Satra was instituted as a newer branch of the original Samaguri Satra, founded by Chakrapani Ata, continuing the same lineage of traditional mask craftsmanship using bamboo and cloth. The satra offers a lower-key alternative for visitors interested in mask-making but hoping to avoid the busier crowds sometimes drawn to the original Samaguri site. Artisans here maintain the same techniques passed down through generations, shaping masks for use in Bhaona performances staged during festival seasons across the island.
