Founded in 1653 by Niranjan Pathakdeva, Auniati Satra ranks among Majuli's oldest and most revered monastic centers, preserving neo-Vaishnavite teachings alongside a museum housing Assamese scriptures, manuscripts, and traditional artefacts. The satra is particularly known for Paal Naam, a multi-day devotional music festival held each autumn that draws pilgrims from across the region. Resident monks maintain a disciplined daily routine of prayer and study, offering visitors a window into a monastic lifestyle largely unchanged over centuries. The calm, ordered atmosphere here stands in contrast to the island's more festival-driven satras.
