Elephant's Head Point

A rocky Sahyadri outcrop shaped like an elephant's trunk, offering sweeping mountain range views.

Elephant's Head Point, also called Needle's Point, is one of Mahabaleshwar's most photogenic viewpoints, where a rocky promontory juts out from the ridge in a form unmistakably resembling an elephant's head with its trunk extended. Perched above 1,500 metres, it commands panoramic views of the layered Sahyadri ranges receding into the distance. The point is especially popular for early morning and golden hour visits, when mist fills the valleys below and the silhouette of the rock becomes dramatic.
