Arthur's Seat

Arthur's Seat, 13 km from town, is the most celebrated viewpoint in Mahabaleshwar, known as the Queen of All Points. At 1,470 metres, the cliff edge overlooks the Savitri Valley and Jor Valley simultaneously, with dense forest descending 2,500 feet to the Konkan plain below. The point has a remarkable natural echo effect and is encircled by six smaller viewpoints including Tiger Spring and Echo Point. It is named after a British officer said to have frequented the spot in mourning.
