One of Tamil Nadu's largest temple tanks in Madurai with a central Ganesha shrine, famous for the spectacular annual float festival in January.

Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam is one of the largest temple tanks in Tamil Nadu, located about 5 km from the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai. The large square tank, built in 1646 during the reign of Thirumalai Nayakkar, has a small island shrine in its centre dedicated to Lord Ganesha (Vinayaka). The tank is famous for the annual Teppam (float) festival held in January-February during which the deities are taken out on decorated floats on the illuminated tank for ten days of celebrations, drawing thousands of devotees. The tank is also a pleasant evening walking destination with a park surrounding it.
