Meenakshi Temple Night Ceremony

The Meenakshi Temple Night Ceremony (Thiruvanandal) is one of the most remarkable temple rituals in India, performed every night at the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai. In this ancient ceremony, the silver image of Lord Sundareswarar (Shiva) is ceremonially carried in a palanquin to the chamber of Goddess Meenakshi (Parvati) to spend the night with her, accompanied by priests, music, and devotees.
