Konar Kadai

Run by the Konar community for generations, this eatery is credited with inventing the kari dosai, now considered Madurai's most famous dish. The dosa comes stacked in three layers, a plain base, a pepper crusted omelette in the middle, and a topping of finely minced, richly spiced mutton. Beyond the signature dish, the menu leans into other traditional non vegetarian offerings including mutton chukka and various offal preparations, staying true to the community's cattle herding roots and word of mouth recipes.
