Gandhi Memorial Museum

Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai is located in the historic Tamukkam Palace, a former summer palace of the Nayak rulers that later became the residence of the British Collector. The museum is dedicated to the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and houses an extensive collection of personal artefacts, photographs, documents, letters, and memorabilia related to the independence movement. The museum also has a significant collection documenting Gandhi's visits to Madurai, where he first adopted the loincloth as his attire in 1921.
